My name is Keely and I live in Merchantville NJ with my husband, rambunctious two year old, and our adorable Cockapoo, Abu. I love board games, swing dancing, and Sundays in Church. When I’m not attending births or chasing after our son, I can likely be found on the couch, binge watching a new show while simultaneously planning our next eurotrip and eating ice cream (which we’ve gotten together in 28 states while road-tripping). 

Every mother you know has a birth story written on their heart. Some are powerful, some are traumatic, but all are unpredictable and unforgettable. My birth story did not go as planned and as a planner, that shook me to my core. My eyes were opened to how important this event can be in shaping a person, a new mom, and a growing family.

My mother’s story started with a miscarriage. Two months later, she was pregnant again and her rainbow baby had a due date the same as the loss. It was meant to be, she thought. She was so excited, she couldn’t wait for my Dad to get home. She called him and left a message, “Could he pick up pickles and ice cream on his way home?” That’s how my Dad found out I’d be joining the family.
